GTA VI Map Size: Leonida Is Three Times RDR2's Playable Area, Rockstar Says

A Rockstar studio comparison finally gives Leonida an official scale reference—but it does not reveal the complete map shape or travel time.

Rockstar told The New York Times that GTA VI's overall map is three times as large as the playable area of Red Dead Redemption 2. It is the strongest sourced scale comparison yet for the wider state of Leonida.

The number does not establish the exact coastline, the amount of accessible interior space, or how long it takes to cross the world. Cars, boats, aircraft, road density, and mission layout can make two maps with similar measurements feel completely different in play.

Rockstar's official materials identify Vice City and the wider state of Leonida, while the Extended Look shows highways, waterways, urban streets, and wetland travel. Community reconstructions can be useful analysis, but they remain separate from the studio's reported three-times comparison.

The Vice Guy will update its map coverage when Rockstar releases a complete official map or enough labeled geography to support verified markers.
